Saudi Arabia is increasing its industrial partnership initiatives with the European Union through its primary focus on pharmaceutical development and trade activities, and essential mineral resources, following its diplomatic meetings in France and Belgium. During his official visits to both nations, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim AlKhorayef held talks to develop pharmaceutical manufacturing agreements and establish vital mineral resource partnerships.
The Saudi Press Agency reports that the engagements serve as part of the Kingdom’s objective to develop international industrial relationships. The initiatives support Vision 2030 objectives, which aim to develop essential domestic industries, strengthen supply chain operations, and implement the National Industrial Strategy.
The primary focus of the project involves creating national capacity for pharmaceutical and medical production, which will improve health security throughout the coming years.
AlKhorayef held discussions with Thomas Triomphe, who works as executive vice president and head of vaccines at Sanofi, to explore possibilities for establishing vaccine and biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations in Saudi Arabia.
Sanofi presented its worldwide corporate structure together with its future business plans, research and development spending, and operational success metrics during the meeting. The minister inspected the company’s manufacturing plants to examine its production facilities and its laboratories used for quality assurance.
The demonstration showed all steps involved in vaccine production, which included developing active components until they reached their final packaged state, and showed the strict testing methods developed to guarantee product safety and effectiveness before products went to market. AlKhorayef conducted a meeting with Bernard Tannoury, who serves as chairman and chief executive officer of Benta Group, during his trip to France.
The discussion focused on how the company started its operations in France and how it developed into a pharmaceutical manufacturing organization. The activities that took place in France aimed to create stronger industrial relationships through which they would bring valuable biopharmaceutical investments to the Kingdom while transferring modern technological knowledge and skills.
The minister conducted his meetings at the European Union’s headquarters in Brussels through bilateral talks with European Commissioner Dubravka Šuica and European Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič, who handles trade and economic security matters. The discussions aimed to improve cooperation between countries to achieve two goals: they wanted to protect economic security, and they needed to maintain continuous international trade, which necessitated access to essential mineral resources.
The discussions about economic relations with Suica examined methods to enhance economic ties between Saudi Arabia and the European Union while the Kingdom maintained its dedication to both regional and international economic stability during times of global change. AlKhorayef and Sefcovic met to create stronger Saudi Arabian trade relations through three main objectives, which included protecting global supply chains and critical mineral resources, and developing industrial value chains with European Union member states.
The parties examined potential joint investment opportunities in essential industry areas. The minister conducted meetings in Belgium as part of his European tour, which he completed to share knowledge and create advanced industrial partnerships and secure foreign investment for the Kingdom.
