Following the formal debut of a new mobile service that enables officers to process passengers using portable devices, travelers going through Dubai’s airports can now finish passport-control processes without stopping at a traditional desk.
By utilizing biometric technologies, facial recognition, electronic passport scanning, automated checks, and secure connectivity to swiftly and reliably verify traveler information, the “Click and Travel” service brings passport-control procedures directly to travelers.
The transaction, which takes 12 to 15 seconds, helps shorten wait times and enhance airport traffic flow.
The service can be used for both arrival and departure procedures and is accessible to visitors, residents, and citizens of the United Arab Emirates.
The service, according to Saeed Ahmed Saeed, Deputy Assistant Director of Air Ports Services at Dubai Airports, signifies a change from a stationary passport-control platform to a mobile one that can serve travelers wherever they are.
He stated, “Today, you are switching from a fixed passport platform to a mobile passport platform that goes to the passenger to complete their travel procedures.”
Before police finish the necessary arrival or departure process, the mobile device either reads the passenger’s electronic passport or utilizes biometric verification.
Officers can quickly perform operations without a traditional permanent counter thanks to the system, which provides fast access to passenger information and connects directly to government databases via a secure network.
